Contemporary Dance |
Contemporary Dance Club encompasses many dance forms or styles, which are typically danced to western music, and which are stylistically associated with American country and/or western traditions. Many of these dance forms had been practiced in western culture for many years such as Jazz, Hip Hop and Funk but it also includes styles which have recently become popular like Lyrical, Animation and House. These dance forms show a constant readiness to accept new varieties. These dance forms not only provide a fun element and mitigate all stress and tension but also improves all elements of fitness (flexibility, muscular strength, and cardio-vascular fitness). For example the moves used in Jazz Dance include Jazz Hands, Kicks, Leaps, Sideways Shuffling, Rolled Shoulders, and Turned Knees. Lyrical tends to utilize both the strong and controlled legwork of ballet and modern dance's stress on the torso, and also employs contact-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristic of modern dance. Breakdancing helps in gaining upper body strength and has a few movements originating from Gymnastics. Group choreography fosters teamwork, communication, trust and cooperation. It helps to nurture important life skills, such as discipline and focus. Dancers naturally display confidence, self-esteem and poise. One of the greatest benefits of dance is that it sparks a child's imagination and nurtures individual creativity in a unique way. Dance classes share the joy of physical self-expression in a supportive and structured setting.

IQF, Eco Club - Green Teen |
IQF/ Eco Club- Through this club, students are constantly made aware to make connections between choices they make and its impact on the environment. The school is declared a ‘no polybag zone’ as the students were made aware of the harmful effects of its usage. The Eco club members feeling important and responsible make regular surprise visits to classrooms and random checking of bags is conducted. A ‘vermicompost pit’ was started on a small scale. Now it gorges all the waste generated from the school Cafeteria and the Home Science Lab – even the cow-dung from a nearby dairy is pitched in, producing valuable manure that is utilized in greening the school premises. To sensitize students on saving water, several pits have been made for rain-water harvesting. The water is used in the school fields and gardens. Workshops on water – electricity saving is conducted for Eco Club members, who in turn spread the message. Meter reading on a daily basis for a month made them more responsible and conscious. A neighbourhood park has been adopted, where students go on a cleanliness drive once a month. Herbal plants are raised in our school garden by the students of this club. Paper Recycling Paper making- About few years back, members of Eco Club realized that a lot of waste paper was being generated in the school especially in the office, junior school and library. It was then that students and teachers thought of recycling that paper. AND thus started the Paper Recycling Club. In the beginning recycled paper was made using an idli grinder. When at last we were successful in getting good quality recycled paper, did our principal ma’am think of investing in a proper paper recycling plant. Now lot of paper is produced which then takes the form of diaries, folders and invitation cards. This year the target of the club is to produce a lot more paper & then sell the articles made in the school.
Waste Segregation Our schools has painted dustbins for separate biodegradable and non-biodegradable matters. In the school, we have a bigger waste collection area which has partitions for biodegradable and non –biodegradable, paper, plastics and glasses. The students of classes VI-XII pick the waste from all and segregate them in biodegradable, non-biodegradable, paper, plastic, glass and put it in a bigger area which is collected by rag picker every Sunday to make his job easier.
E-Waste Disposal Our school has been conferred with the ‘Platinum Status’ for its contribution to ‘Nokia Planet ke Rakhwale’ campaign. Technology is producing newer products and applications everyday to make the life of people more comfortable and enjoyable. However, it also has certain pitfalls such as generation of E-Waste which if left uncontrolled can create havoc for the world environment. We have taken up the cudgels to work towards cleaner environment by involving the whole student fraternity and collaborating with Nokia in their project “Nokia Planet Ke Rakhwale’. The students are encouraged to voluntarily donate their old mobile sets, and all types of electrical and electronic equipment in the pre-defined locations/bins in the school. These are then the recycled and they find their way to everyday things like park benches, kettles and saxophones.
